The 37th America's Cup is expected to be one of the most intense in its 174-year history. Creaform is supporting the NYYC American Magic's challenge with its cutting-edge technology.
Creaform, a business unit of AMETEK, Inc. and the worldwide leader in portable 3D measurement solutions, announced today that it is renewing its partnership as Official 3D Measurement Technology Supplier of New York Yacht Club American Magic Challenger for the 37th America's Cup. Celebrated as the highest prize in sailing, the America's Cup represents the oldest international sporting trophy and stands as one of the most challenging sporting endeavors.
NYYC American Magic President of Sailing Operations/Skipper, Terry Hutchinson, said, "Working with Creaform's team is a great advantage for NYYC American Magic. Throughout the project, Creaform is helping NYYC American Magic by providing state-of-the-art dimensional measurement equipment, such as metrology‑grade 3D scanners, photogrammetry optical coordinate systems, and scan-to-CAD and inspection software. These cutting-edge 3D solutions are accelerating the development and fine-tuning of critical components for American Magic's two 75 feet (23 m) foiling monohull yachts. Creaform's team also provides invaluable training and advice on various complex design and 3D metrology tasks. The portability of Creaform's equipment means that it can be easily shipped and used at several team sites, including their Rhode Island factory, their test center in Pensacola, and Barcelona, where the final race will take place.

The Official Opening Ceremony of the 37th America's Cup will be held in Barcelona on August 22, 2024. After that, the Final Preliminary Event and the Challenger Selection Series will follow, leading up to the America's Cup Match starting on October 12, 2024. The Challenger Selections Series will determine which team will face the Defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the America's Cup Match.
