The HandyPROBE is designed to make inspection easier by allowing the C-Track or the part to move during the inspection. Even while this is true, one specific thing should be avoided: parts should not be deformed during the inspection.
Plastic or sheet metal parts can twist or bend by a few microns just by gently touching them with the probe. To avoid generating uncertainties during the measurement, any flexible part should be constrained properly prior to the inspection.
A setup like this is a very simple example of what not to do. Since there is nothing to hold the part in the middle, it will bend when the probe tip sits on it.
The best way to avoid that is to put a block under the part to ensure that no movement is allowed.
