Lévis, September 7, 2009 - Creaform, developer and manufacturer of the Handyscan 3DTM line-up of self-positioning handheld laser scanners and the HandyPROBETM portable arm-free CMM, unveils today excellent results for the first half of 2009, which is very promising for the remainder of the year.
In Asia, Creaform Shanghai reports an impressive Q1 and Q2 YOY growth of 505%, while the Japanese subsidiary managed to double its 1st semester sales from 2008 to 2009.
Overall, the company has known a year-over-year growth of 25% for the first semester of 2009, and the number of Handyscan 3D scanners units sold also went up 22% compared to the same period last year. Creaform also reveals very good mid-year results for its 3D engineering services, results that are in line with the target numbers for 2009.
The company is also successful at expanding its Handyscan 3D and HandyPROBE technologies worldwide distribution network - with an average of one new distributor signed every week - and now counts renowned institutions such as the Natural History Museum of London, Bridgestone and Reebok-CCM and a rapidly increasing number of universities worldwide as new clients.
Reasons for success
In addition to the figures listed above, other factors have contributed to the steady growth of the company: its innovative 3D scanning technology is now well-known in the world as being an affordable, reliable and high ROI solution. Plus, the company was able to fully seize the new openings in these emerging markets with the opening in 2008 of its two Asian subsidiaries. Finally, the company can count on its activities in industries immune from the crisis such as medical care and education (with a constantly growing number of educational institutions purchasing and teaching its technology).
